1. Throw decent distance far out. If you toss minimum, you're gonna have a bad time. (However, for non-boss fish, minimum works very well if you're understat'd)
2. Perfect hook for easy 20% damage
3. Respond to state change quickly. You can let a boss recover a minute or two worth of hp in a matter of a second if you let it dive.
4. Let it go at 4% hp to reduce tension. It's going to stay green. Then reel in like mad.
5. After it revives, keep reeling until it changes state to red or purple
7. Finish him if he's close. Go to step 4 if it's still far out.
I've caught 9 kinds of bosses so far and one of the biggest blunders are caused by sweaty index finger for me. So instead of tapping the center of the reel, I tap the left end (say 9 o'clock) of the wheel.
I haven't had any misfires ever since I started tapping here.
Before then I had situations where sweat would turn the wheel when the tension is near max even though I'm just holding still, breaking the line.
Death, it's impossible to reel in boss fish with 3 digit stats if you try to catcH it by throwing too far out. The fish ends up alternating to beserk often which forces a lot of players to lose line. If they can't catch the boss with the minimum toss method with the beserk limit, it's very unlikely they will catch it the other way.
Yeah it's hard if you toss maximum distance straight up.
But max gauge on leftmost or rightmost (depends on the map but one side is closer) gives you really good distance that is far enough.
I've seen people catch bosses with less than 800 attack so it really comes down to skill.
If I mess up even the slightest, I know I'm going to fight an uphill battle and sometimes it means losing the fish.
Don't take a risk. It's better to play for a few more minutes than lose the boss. One time I've reeled a boss all the way to 0m after it revived and my tension was literally at 99%. I wasn't certain that I'd have landed it if I reeled so I played longer and dropped its remaining 3,40% or so HP and caught it safely.

Hi guys, i was wondering, is the boss stunned if you unleash your stike while it is already knockout ? Ie when u reel hard and that it has not revived yet ?!
Asking u this because each time i skrew up when my tension gauge is up90%, the boss is like 3 meters away, and it revives, angry as f#$%k and i drop the ball with my tecnical stike...
So can u somehow stun it while already stun, knowing that im 820 atk .
Cheers folks feel free to ad me, i am quite dedicated

The way I do it is insanely fast tapping (smallest taps possible) for the entire fight, when not stunning or reeling, holding the tension steady means they can still take line. Doing this its possible to get from 90% tension down to as low as you dare without losing any line if done correctly. Only learned this recently, caught my first 4 bosses this way yesterday and only one of them actually got KOd, the rest just couldn't take any line.
Known as repeated holding. You will lose some distance over multiple taps but the amount of tension you reduced make that distance seem like nothing.
On iPhones (especially pre-iOS6) it's almost not worth even trying.

Oh and don't toss 12m. Toss minimum 40% of your cast gauge.
It's still gonna be only like 18m or so. But this way, if the boss revives before 24m (Big Black Snakehead's case) instead of going crazy and swimming back to 24m, it will revive green and you can finish it off easy.
It's about 10 times harder to catch a boss by tossing close.
