I saw a youtube video of this guy fishing for busiri in this game. When the fish is 'angry red', he tries to move the rod to follow the fish. When the fish is 'sinking purple', he pulls the rod away to 'wake the fish up'.

My question is: Is it necessary to do that? Does it really work? To me its seems more placebo.. The line still break sometimes even if I follow.. Some fishes stay purple no matter how hard I pull.

You don't have to do that. But if you keep following the fish, you can start reeling as soon as it turns green/orange. Some bosses will give you only 1 second (literally) of reeling status and you want to maximize it to reduce fishing time.

So it's a good habit to get into.
